CASE STUDIES
INTRODUCTION
While taking cues from the designer, it is up to me to give life to the animation whether it is to imitate life-like motion, give presence to the banner, or highlight certain aspects. However the animation is rendered, though, it is always in service of the content and messaging. The copy must be animated clearly, paced at a legible speed, and clearly indicate when new copy has appeared. Both images, copy, and scenes must transition in a novel and interesting way that compliments the product and messaging without being too distracting or time consuming. Additionally, there are often technical problems to solve via programming be it complicated animations, efficient animation, or efficient and optimized file sizes. All the banners were created in Flash using Actionscript or HTML 5.
CHALLENGES
– How to animate the banner to be compelling?
– How to make the banner with the fewest elements for efficient processing and file size efficiency?
– How to keep the quality high but file size low?
– How to keep the banner’s animation good, legible, and informative within the kilobyte and time limitations.
